At AOM YOGA we aim to offer you a diverse selection of classes to support you in your practice. Below you will find a description of the classes we currently have at the studio.
Yoga Classes at AOM YOGA
Asthanga yoga is one of the most dynamic styles of yoga. Students will be led through the primary series; a flowing sequence of poses connected by a deep and steady breath. The flowing physical movement builds strength and flexibility of the body and when united with the specialized breathing helps to still the mind and create a sense of serenity.
Community Yoga - (On Voluntary Donation, Free, or On an Exchange basis)
Community Yoga Classes are Donation based classes open to all students. These classes are part of AOM YOGA's Karma offering to the community. Classes are taught by teachers in the AOM YOGA community and are mixed level. All donations from the classes go towards supporting social projects that AOM YOGA is focused towards.
Heart Flow Yoga
This class follows the natural evolution of the Heart Yoga class. We will focus on a flowing heart yoga practice ideally aimed at seasoned Heart Yoga practitioners who understand the universal principles of alignment and want to go deeper into the heart-space.
Heart Yoga classes are Hatha Yoga classes based on the deeply life affirming philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism, recognizing the innate goodness in the Heart of all things. In these classes you will be encouraged to go deep into your heart and align yourself and your body to the Grace that radiates within you. Using strong alignment to your breath and optimum flow of life force, you will explore and express your practice from the unique expression of the Heart.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga
These classes offer a you a practice of a series of asana (postures) in a fluid and steady pace. On each inhale and exhale a new position is proposed, that is the beauty of "vinyasa flow". Particular attention is given to the touch, through precise adjustments. Each class is unique driven by the creativity of the moment or exploring a specific theme, guiding the students in their meditation in motion. At the end of class, students will be led through a 10 minute guided meditation. Class taught in English.
Vinyasa Basics Yoga
This class is a 4 week course designed to take students through the basics of yoga. Each week we will look at a different aspect of yoga (standing poses, backbends, forward bends, etc.) and explore each in detail focusing on alignment and breath. The final week we will hold a dynamic fluid vinyasa practice that links together all basic poses in a flowing sequence. Each practice will end with a 10 minute guided meditation session. This class is great for beginners and those new to yoga as well as students who wish to go deeper into their practice.
